THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE and BODYWORK: All sessions include a combination of techniques and styles to address your needs.
Myofascial Release Techniques
These techniques consist of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system (connective tissue) in order to eliminate fascial restrictions. Restrictions are located through visual analysis and palpation of the tissue. Myofascial release techniques can be an effective therapeutic approach for many issues including: cervical pain, back pain, scoliosis, restriction of motion, chronic pain, and headaches.
Deep Tissue Work
This is work to the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. However, it does not always imply deep pressure. Deep tissue massage breaks down tense areas within the muscle and tissue to help alleviate pain and inflammation as well as increase motion of the muscles and joints.
Neuromuscular therapy is a soft-tissue manipulation often used to: locate and release spasms and hypercontraction in the tissue, eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, rebuild the strength of injured tissue, assist venous and lymphatic flow, restore postural alignment and proper biomechanics and flexibility to the tissue.
The Swedish massage techniques rejuvenate both body and mind. The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.
Pre/Post Surgical Massage
The best surgical experience is still highly stressful, both physically and emotionally. Some benefits of pre/post surgical massage include:
- reduced anxiety, stress and discomfort
- increased blood and lymphatic flow to promote healing
- release hyper-toned muscles that were used to protect an area
- reduce scar tissue formation
